About BSC

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 900 staff from 55 countries.

Context And Mission

Due to an accumulation of tasks within the HR team, we are looking for a temporary position to address the current workload. The HR and EDI Support Officer will provide vital assistance across various HR functions (mainly EDI initiatives, Training and Recruitment) with a transversal support function on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with the Talent team to develop strategies to attract a diverse pool of applicants and support hiring managers in fostering an inclusive selection process.
  • Training support: Help coordinate EDI training sessions and events to promote a culture of inclusion and belonging. Support the organization of other training sessions and workshops, including logistics, participant registration, and materials preparation. Assist in updating training records and monitoring employee participation.
  • Work with the Health & Safety Unit to ensure a safe and inclusive working environment for all BSC staff.
  • Assist the HR Team in the implementation of EDI initiatives, such as developing awareness programs, supporting the equity commission, and monitoring EDI-related metrics.
  • Policy development and compliance: Stay updated on relevant legislation and best practices regarding equality, diversity, and inclusion working hand-by-hand with the Personnel Administration team.
  • This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Labour Relations, Law, Psychology, sociology degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • 1 - 2 years of experience in HR or a similar position
    • Specific training and experience with equality, diversity, and inclusion tasks
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience in an international environment is desirable
    • Experience in a research environment will be valued
    • Excellent English and Spanish and written communication
    • Catalan and other languages are a plus
    • Solid skills in Microsoft office. (Excellent in Excel)

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the [department] Department
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Temporary contract to address the accumulation of tasks within the team - 6 months
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
