Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is once again taking a central role at Computing Systems Week, which takes place in Zagreb on 27 and 28 April. Bringing together researchers and industry representatives from across Europe, the event, organised by HiPEAC, the European Network on High-Performance and Embedded Computing, is a highlight of the computing systems calendar.
BSC staff form a key part of the spring event’s varied programme, which features both technical and capacity-building sessions:
- Paul Carpenter (Computer Sciences) will present ‘How HPC is built on open source software’ at the EuroLab-4-HPC / Open Source: Panel Session on Open Source Software in the Data Center and in HPC - by EuroLab-4-HPC, as well as co-organising the session titled Towards the Eurolab-4-HPC Long-term Roadmap on High-performance Computing in Years 2022-2030
- Marisa Gil (Computer Sciences) is organising the second HiPEAC Student Heterogeneous Programming Challenge. The challenge is aimed at students who have just started their MSc/PhD in the area of compilation and computer architecture. Students are tasked with investigating a particular problem and its existing implementations. During the session they present and discuss the results.
- Xavier Salazar (Research Support, Transfer and Dissemination) is organising Inspiring futures! Researchers' careers workshop. The workshop will provide advice and tips for career development, give information about the main skills employers look for, and feature presentations from companies and research centres about potential vacancies, internships and PhD programmes.
In addition to keynotes by Matija Gracin (Rimac Automobili) and Martin Kersten (CWI), the event also features sessions on digital health and advances in High Performance Computing in Europe. There will also be a Media Skills Workshop to help researchers to communicate their scientific work to society.
