The BSC Earth Sciences Department (BSC-ES) is a pioneering research entity dedicated to advancing environmental modelling, forecasting, and analysis. This is a very dynamic and internationally recognised department focusing on weather, climate and air quality modelling and forecasting based on high-performance computing, big data analysis, machine learning, and transdisciplinary work that brings together natural and social sciences and humanities.
The Computational Earth Sciences Group at BSC-ES, led by Miguel Castrillo and Mario Acosta, is looking for a Junior Management Support responsible for providing administrative support to the research teams, activities and projects of the CES group.
- Internal Communication and Knowledge Management: Maintain wikis and shared documentation, coordinate internal updates, and ensure relevant information is accessible and up to date.
- Outreach and Visibility: Collaborate with the communications team to support the group’s external visibility through website updates, publications, software releases, and other outreach materials.
- Administrative and Scheduling Support: Assist group and team leaders with the group's schedule, internal meetings, document preparation, and travel logistics.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Coordinate hiring logistics, schedule interviews, support onboarding processes, and keep personnel records current.
- Project and Institutional Coordination: Liaise with Human Resources, Project Management Office, Finance, and Legal teams, support compliance and project tracking, and help organize internal events like retreats and seminars.

Education
- Bachelor's or Certificate of Higher Education (CFGS) within the field of Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Degrees in Library and Information Science, Human Resources, or similar disciplines are also welcome.

Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in administrative or coordination roles, preferably in a research, academic, or institutional environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Word and Excel.
- Experience with survey administration and reporting.

Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Familiarity with internal communication and collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, GitLab, Markdown, Slack).

- Strong planning and organizational skills with a structured and methodical mindset.

- The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department

- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration

- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona

Development of the recruitment process
The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
