Dr. Anandan is responsible for Microsoft Research outreach activities worldwide and visited BSC on June 30 for an update on the great work being done by David Carrera and his team on the Aloja project (hadoop.bsc.es) to provide automated cost/effectiveness optimization for Big Data deployments. The team at BSC is coordinated by Nicolas Poggi and is responsible for the development of the open source Aloja framework, which has been already adopted by several product teams at Microsoft to study the Big Data performance across a range of different hardware, deployment and software configurations.
