The spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) Mitiga Solutions has won the EmprendedorXXI Award in Catalonia together with GlyCardial Diagnostics, spin-off of the Institut de Recerca Sant Pau and the CSIC. These awards are promoted by CaixaBank, through DayOne, its specialized division for technology companies, innovation and its investors, and co-awarded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, through Enisa. The awards were presented yesterday in the framework of the day of innovation, technology and entrepreneurship "DayOne Innovation Summit", a new program of CaixaBank. In this edition of the EmprendedorXXI Awards, 142 Catalan companies participated. The two winning companies obtain an economic endowment of 5,000 euros and access to an international accompaniment program in Silicon Valley, organized by Esade in collaboration with Singularity University, or an international business growth course, Ignite Fast Track, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).
Mitiga Solutions, spin-off of the BSC created in 2018, is specialized in assessing and mitigating the impacts of natural hazards (volcanic eruptions, sandstorms, water salinization ...) for the aviation and insurance industries. It develops and commercializes, among others, the first service to quantify atmospheric risks in real time to improve air traffic management, to perform insurance coverage calculations, and to improve cities' adaptation capacity.

Mitiga Solutions won the award to the best start-up of the Pre-accelerator Program of Barcelona Activa 2018, it has taken part in IESE’s technology transfer program, it has also been selected as one of the seven best TIC companies to be invested on in the Fórum d’Inversió of ACC1Ó of 2018, and it is one of the ten most disruptive start-ups in Spain, participating in the accelerator program Empenta, by ACC1Ó (an agency of the Generalitat of Catalonia for the competitiveness of companies, which depends on the Department of Business and Knowledge, together with ESADE and ESADECREAPOLIS, with the objective of accelerating the growth of start-up companies in their initial stages for their products and services to reach the market, so that they may find investors. Mitiga Solutions was selected by Barcelona Activa to represent the Catalan entrepreneur system in Japan in a pilot programme that will facilitate the business landing and the start-up interchange between Barcelona and Fukuoka, in Japan.
