Biography

Felipe Portella received the bachalor degree at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in 2003 and his MSc degree from the same university in 2008. From April/2012 to June/2013 he did a specialization course in Petroleum Engineering and Natural Gas at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ), where he present the monography "Assisted History Matching of Reservoir Simulation using a Ensemble-based Kalman Smoother Filter with Multiple Data Assimilation". He works for the Brazilian energy company Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (PETROBRAS) since June/2000, being hired as an employee in January/2007 after passing a public contest, always working on the IT of the Research Center (CENPES) for Reservoir Engineering. Felipe Portella is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in computer science at the Universitat Politècnica da Catalunya (UPC), where he is researching technics to optimize petroleum reservoir simulation workloads in HPC environments in partnership with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS).
