Title: Advanced Computing in Support of NASA Science and Engineering
Date: 2 February, 11.30h
Venue: Sala d’Actes de la FIB

Abstract: The NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Division at Ames Research Center provides an advanced computing environment focused on enabling science and engineering discoveries across all of NASA’s mission areas. In this talk, we provide an overview of the Pleiades supercomputer, NASA’s premier high-end computing resource, describing some of the challenges we have faced including running applications at scale and utilizing many-integrated core-based systems for NASA codes. In addition the talk will also briefly describe other projects at the NAS Division including a collaborative environment for the Earth science community, our efforts in big data infrastructure support and nascent technologies such as quantum computing.
