Catalan Vice President Pere Aragonès and Vice President of the Spanish government Teresa Ribera visit BSC

On January 30, the Vice President and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Catalan Government, Pere Aragonès, visited BSC to get a closer look at the centre's challenges and to visit the space that will host the future MareNostrum 5 supercomputer. After the visit, Aragonès announced that the Generalitat will invest 47.8 million euros over the next five years in the development of MareNostrum 5. In 2020, the Catalan administration will allocate a total of 9.9 million euros - this figure includes 6.4 million of a power substation.

Teresa Ribera, the Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition of Spanish Government, also visited the centre. This visit served to talk about the work done in climate and air quality, and the development of services carried out by the BSC's Department of Earth Sciences, with its director in charge, Francisco J. Doblas-Reyes.
