Context And Mission

Reporting to the BSC Technology Transfer Manager, the BSC technology transfer officer will facilitate the exploitation of BSC’s research results by transferring knowledge and technology developed at BSC to the market, and promoting the use of HPC to the national industry.

Key Duties

  • Help to identify technology with commercial potential
  • Help to protect this technology in the most appropriate way
  • Help to promote and license BSC’s know-how and technology through agreements with companies and the foundation of spin-offs
  • Promote the linkage with technology transfer ecosystem
  • Organize tech transfer events to improve the visibility of BSC project results to society
  • Organize training activities to promote internally the culture of entrepreneurship and technology transfer
  • Responsibilities:
    1. Follow the development of exploitable technologies being developed in BSC projects
    2. Be familiar with all BSC IP and the ownership and exploitation conditions agreed in consortium agreements and contracts with companies
    3. Act as an interface between BSC staff and external agents to organize tech transfer events to make more visible the BSC IP portfolio
    4. Act as an interface between BSC staff and external collaborators to organize training activities to promote internal entrepreneurship and technology transfer
    5. Take part in technology transfer projects to transfer BSC IPR portfolio and to improve the linkage with the technology transfer ecosystem

Requirements

  • Education
    • Business or Law degree preferred (applicants with a science or engineering degree will also be considered)
    • Master in innovation, IPR management, or similar a plus
    • Specialized courses on the exploitation of research results, or similar a plus
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Work experience is not essential but candidates who have knowledge of the following areas, will be at an advantage:
      o Projects between non-profit research centers and private industry
      o Computer and Computational Sciences
      o Creating start-ups
  • Competences
    • Fluency in English, Spanish and Catalan, essential
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure
    • Willing to travel

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 1 year renewable
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
  • Starting date: 01/04/2021
