Context And Mission

The Computer Science Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is offering a full-time software engineer position. The engineer will work on a project that studies and implements new techniques in open-source fault tolerance software for high-performance computing (e.g., multilevel checkpoint-restart). We strongly encourage the application of candidates who are interested in a close collaboration with industry and contact with cutting edge technology developers.

Key Duties

  • Integration, improvement and maintenance of resilience techniques for the FTI library developed at BSC
  • Continuous integration and unitary tests of the resilience software developed
  • Performance analysis of parallel applications and integration of the resilience techniques developed
  • Large scale evaluation of checkpointing techniques with scientific applications

Requirements

  • Education
    • B.Sc or M.Sc in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience with Unix/Linux environments
    • Skills in programming languages (C/C++, Fortran, Python, Perl, Bash)
    • Experience with parallel programming models (OmpSs, OpenMP, MPI)
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience with git, travis and jenkins (and other continuous integration tools) is a plus
    • Experience in developing fault tolerance middleware is a plus
  • Competences
    • Capacity to interact and build strong relations with computer scientists
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team
    • Ability to learn and adapt to multiple programming languages easily

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 1 year renewable
