Context And Mission
Applications are invited for a senior research engineer in High Performance Computing (HPC) architectures at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). We are offering a position in the context of several industry-funded projects at BSC. These projects will design and provide simulation infrastructure for heterogeneous high-performance computing architectures based on the RISC-V ISA.
Key Duties
- Maintain and extend architectural simulation infrastructures
- Design and implement architectural models for heterogeneous RISC-V multi-core systems
- Deliver initial proof-of-concept demonstration of its critical components on relevant applications
Requirements
- Education
- PhD in Computer Sciences (or close to graduate)
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Computer Architecture: microarchitecuture, resource sharing in multicores, data level parallelism
- Proficient in Python, C and C++
- Experience using and modifying architectural simulators
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Operating Systems: Linux, scripting
- Deep knowledge of execution-driven simulation tools (in particular gem5)
- Proficient in English
- Competences
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines pressure.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Capacity to interact and build strong relations with other research groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Conditions
- The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
- Starting date: 01/01/2023

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
