Context And Mission

BSC and Lenovo participates in the EAR project, a collaboration project with the goal of creating and Energy management software for data centers. EAR includes several components in charge of providing energy optimization, energy monitoring, energy and power capping, etc. The candidate will participate in the implementation of new extensions of the project for new architectures and new scenarios such as GPU energy optimization or AMD architectures guided by the project leader and other members of the EAR team. The candidate will be assigned to one specific topic based on its experience but it will be involved in the overall project

Key Duties

  • Implementation and evaluation of strategies for energy optimization for CPU-GPU architectures
  • Implementation and evaluation of strategies for energy optimization in AMD architectures
  • Participate in the internal project meetings
  • Participate in publications resulting of the project and attendance to project meetings or demonstrations if required

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Software computing skills.
    • Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments: tools and system calls
    • Experience on C programming languages, and development tools such as Makefiles or automake
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Skills on parallel programming. Basic experience on MPI, OpenMP programming models will be valued and mostly CUDA programming
  • Competences
    • Candidates must be proactive, self-motivated individuals who can understand technical concepts
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 1 year renewable
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
