Context And Mission

The CASE department is looking for a Postdoc Researcher in geometry and meshing for simulation with experience in the development of software prototypes that implement the research methods. The candidate will be engaged in the project "Optimal curved adapted meshes for space-time flow simulation", offered through the European Research Council Starting Grant contract TESSERACT, to work under the supervision of the project principal investigator.

Key Duties

  • Research on four dimensional curved mesh generation
  • Co-supervise the PhD students of the TESSERACT project
  • Coordination of the implementation of prototypes developed in the team

Requirements

  • Education
    • PhD in Applied Mathematics
    • Higher University Degree in Mathematics or equivalent
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Proved experience in mesh generation research
    • Experience in the development of software tools
    • Experience with geometry kernels such as EGADS or OpenCascade
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Strong background on geometry, numerical methods and partial differential equations
    • Julia, C, C++, Matlab, Python
    • Experience with mesh generation and visualization tools
    • Publication record in numerical analysis and mesh generation
    • Meshing specifics: advancing front methods, curved adaption, high-order interpolation, bisection
  • Competences
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Fluent in English and Spanish
    • Capacity to interact and build strong relations with a diverse members/stakeholder/staff base
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 30/09/2020 renewable
