The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. Context and Mission

The BSC communication team’s mission is to publicize the BSC and its activity through the center's own channels (web, profiles in social networks, newsletter, visits to MareNostrum supercomputer), the media and the organization and participation in activities to strengthen the public awareness and understanding of science and technology. It also manages the internal communication of the center.

 

Key Duties

  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to draft and design infographics, digital and multimedia materials
  • Design or adjust artwork and documents in line with the center’s branding guidelines bringing appropriate creativity and personality to each edition
  • Develop, manage and update content for website and the social media
  • Collect and manage BSC appearances in media
  • Assist with the need of the department (organization of institutional events, newsletter, outreach, etc)

 

Requirements

  • Education
    • Being enrolled in a Bachelor degree / MSc in Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design or any related discipline

 

  • Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience of working in a graphic design or marketing role (highly valued)
    • High proficiency in Powerpoint
    • High proficiency in Graphic Design programs: Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator)
    • Background in motion design with exceptional eye for good design and typography

 

  • Competences
    • Candidates must have a creative mindset mixed with a strong logic and understanding of design and typography principles
    • Creative with good attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Spanish and Catalan
    • Ability to take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team

 

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Management Department
  • We offer a fully paid internship, full time or part time. The number of hours will depend by the University Agreement
  • Starting date: January/February 2018
