Context And Mission

The Computer Sciences (CS) department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center aims at carrying out research and development to influence the way computing machines are built, programmed and used. The Computer Architecture for Parallel Paradigm group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center aims to research on computer architecture for high performance computation, big data, low power and resilience architectures. More specifically, we are interested to research in low power and resilience vector architecture and out of order architectures to be used in exascale computers. The CS department is looking for a group manager to lead this group, both from managerial and research/technical points of view.

Key Duties

  • Management of the CAPP group inside the CS department at BSC; the candidate will report to the CS department directors.
  • Envision and supervision of research and development activities.
  • Leading of funded projects in the CAPP group.
  • Active role in looking for public and private funding, ensuring the financial sustainability of the CAPP group.
  • Contribution to the strategic activities of the department.
  • Participation in strategic roles in international initiatives.


  • Education
    • PhD on Computer Sciences or related
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience on leading research groups (5 years of experience)
    • Experience on European funded projects or similar (3 years of experience)
    • Experience in research contracts with industry
    • Research and development experience in the area of Computer Archtecture
    • Expertise in vector, out of order, low power and fault tolerant architectures
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Knowledge in parallel programming
    • Knowledge in HDL
    • Knowledge in hardware simulation
  • Competences
    • Fluency in spoken and written English
    • Ability to interact with people


  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
