Context And Mission

Reporting to the BSC Technology Transfer Manager, the BSC technology transfer officer will facilitate the exploitation of BSC’s research results by transferring knowledge and technology developed at BSC to the market.

Key Duties

  • Protect BSC technology in the most appropriate way, including in EU projects.
  • Promote and license BSC’s know-how and technology through agreements with companies and the foundation of spin-offs.
  • Participate in project proposal preparation (IPR management, exploitation plan etc.).
  • Responsibilities:
    1. Follow the development of exploitable technologies being developed in BSC projects, participate in project exploitation committees.
    2. Be familiar with all BSC IP and the ownership and exploitation conditions agreed in consortium agreements and contracts with companies.
    3. Maintain a database of IP in different areas with the conditions agreed in consortium agreements and contracts with companies.
    4. Maintain services catalogue with technologies with commercial potential.
    5. Act as an interface between researchers and patent lawyers/other partners for patent applications and management.
    6. Act as an interface between researchers and lawyers for start-up creation
    7. Contribute to the Impact section of EU projects and proposals for technology transfer calls.


  • Education
    • Law, business or science degree preferred.
    • Master in innovation, IPR management or similar a plus.
    • Specialized courses on IPR management, exploitation of research results etc.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position.
    • Experience in IP management and project management and commercialization of technologies.
    • Knowledge of IT sector, especially Computer and Computational Sciences an advantage.
    • Experience in projects between non-profit research centers and private industry a plus.
    • Experience creating start-ups also a plus.
  • Competences
    • Fluency in Spanish, Catalan and English is essential.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure.
    • Willing to travel.


  • The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 3 years renewable
