Context And Mission

The BSC is responsible for coordinating the support for the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) and its dissemination activities. The Spanish Supercomputing Network is one of the Spanish ICTS (Infraestructuras Científicas y Técnicas Singulares) and it is composed by the most powerful supercomputers of Spain.

The BSC is also responsible for coordinating the Spanish HPC Competence Center, an international project under the framework of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, call “Innovating and Widening the HPC use and skills base”, and program “EuroHPC-04-2019: HPC Competence Centres”. This is two years project in close collaboration with the RES nodes, and with international relations with all the 34 national competence centers.

The BSC is also member of the Centre of Innovation for Data Tech and Artificial Intelligence (CIDAI), an initiative of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which derives from the Spanish Digital Innovation Hub for HPC (esHPC). The aim is to coordinate the RES tasks within the context of the future European Digital Innovation Hubs program to launch at the end of this year.

We are looking for a person to join the Operations Department, to support the coordination of the activities of the various institutions from different perspectives.

Key Duties

  • Support to the management of the Spanish Supercomputing Network
  • Coordination and Organization of RES and EuroCC seminars with the objective to encourage the use of supercomputing.
  • Support the organization of the RES User Conference and future EuroCC events
  • Management and organization of training courses for RES and EuroCC projects
  • Coordination and organization of regular meetings for the control and monitoring of the RES and EuroCC projects
  • Support in the preparation and management of application submission for national grants related with RES ICTS.
  • Preparation of reviews and deliverables for the national grants related with the RES and EuroCC projects
  • support the update of the communication plan for the RES ICTS.
  • Support to the management of the HPC Digital Innovation Hub. ◦
    ◦ Tasks of technology transfer,dissemination, competence and innovation management
    ◦ Relations with industry, business associations, SMEs, etc..

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor or Master degree (fields like Business, Science, Engineering, Technology, preferred.)
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Minimum one year of experience in project management.
    • Minimum one year of experience in scientific events organization and management.
    • Experience in job-related activities.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience in the field of digital transformation of companies (mainly SMEs) will be highly valuated.
    • Knowledge of the Catalan and Spanish innovation ecosystem.
  • Competences
    • Good level of English.
    • Capacity to organize her/his own agenda and work plans.
    • Proactive person and good communicator.
    • Availability to travel in Europe, sometimes at a short notice, to attend relevant events.
    • Ability to work independently or in teams when required.

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department
