Context And Mission

The Predictable Parallel Programming group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center aims at carrying out research on advanced parallel and distributed programming models for critical real-time systems, to implement the most advanced components in charge of controlling fundamental parts of cars and its interaction with smart cities, extremely large telescopes, satellites, etc. This research is done within the scope of international projects in collaboration with top-tier multinational companies and research institutions.
The objective of this position is to research on the field of advanced parallel programming models to develop the most advanced AI and control methods across the complete compute continuum, i.e., from the edge to the cloud, while maintaining the level of safety and security imposed by critical systems.

Key Duties

  • Development of new parallel programming frameworks addressing distributed cloud-based systems and parallel shared memory architectures
  • Interaction with international companies and research institutions

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Sciences or related field
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Knowledge on C/C++ and Python programming
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Knowledge on cloud-based programming
    • Knowledge on parallel programming models, including SMP and heterogeneous computing
  • Competences
    • Problem-solving, pro-active, result-oriented work attitude
    • Good communication skills including a good command of the English language (written and spoken)

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department

  • Duration: Temporary - 2 years renewable
