Context And Mission
 
The Computer Science Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is offering an internship position for the summer. The intern will work on a project that studies and implements new techniques in fault tolerance and reliability for FPGA computing. We strongly encourage the application of candidates who are interested to work with cutting edge technology..
 
Key Duties
 
  • Implement checkpointing for applications running on FPGAs
  • Integrate FPGA checkpointing with an application (e.g., Alya)
  • Integrate FPGA checkpointing with FPGA undervolting
 
Requirements
 
  • Education
    • B.Sc or M.Sc in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience with Unix/Linux environments
    • Skills in programming languages (C/C++, Fortran, Python, Perl, Bash)
    • Experience with parallel programming models (OmpSs, OpenMP, MPI)
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Experience with git, Travis, and Jenkins (and other continuous integration tools)
    • Experience in developing FPGA software
  • Competences
    • Capacity to interact and build strong relations with computer scientists
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team
    • Ability to learn and adapt to multiple programming languages easily
 
Conditions
 
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
  • We offer a part-time contract, a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, tickets restaurant, private health insurance, fully support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Temporary - 5 months renewable
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
  • Starting date: 01/07/2020
