Alfonso Santiago

Alfonso Santiago holds a Bachelor degree in Bioengineering and a Ph.D in HPC numerical modelling for computational mechanics. During his PhD thesis at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center he developed a fluid-electro-mechanical model of the human heart using Alya, the HPC simulation workbench developed at case.

Currently, he is a researcher at the BSC and part of ELEM Biotech a BSC spin-off focused on deploying simulations of biomechanical systems to the fingertips of medical devices designers and medical doctors.

His current main reasearch topics of interest are High Performance biomechanical models of the heart, and Verification and Validation protocols for biomedical systems.
