EJP RD: European Joint Programme for Rare Diseases

Description

The overall objectives of the EJP RD are:

  • To improve the integration, the efficacy, the production and the social impact of research on RD through the development, demonstration and promotion of Europe-wide and even world-wide sharing of research and clinical data, materials, processes, knowledge and know-how;
  • To implement and further develop an efficient model of financial support for all types of research on RD (fundamental, clinical, epidemiological, social, economic, health service) coupled with accelerated exploitation of research results for the benefits of patients.

The specific objectives and goals of the EJP RD will be set and achieved through the Annual Work Plans. This first Annual Work Plan was developed based on inputs from Pillar leaders (PLs) and Work Package leaders (WPLs), as well as on an in depth discussion of prioritization within the whole consortium and agreement on activities essential to start within the first year of the programme.
