EdgeAI-Trust: Decentralized Edge Intelligence: Advancing Trust, Safety, and Sustainability in Europe

The EdgeAI-Trust project aims to develop and implement decentralized Edge AI technologies to address key challenges facing Europe'sindustrial and societal sectors, such as energy efficiency, system complexity, and sustainability. By developing trustworthy domain independent collaborative AI architectures and HW/SW edge AI technologies, the project will promote large-scale edge AI solutions that able upgradeability, reliability, safety, security, and interoperability, with a focus on explainability and robustness. This will increase trustworthiness, reliability, safety, security, and societal acceptance of AI in a dynamic zero-trust environment.

EdgeAI-trust will develop toolchains with standardized interfaces for optimizing and validating edge AI solutions in heterogeneouscomputing systems, measuring ODD coverage of training data, and complementing edge AI training data. EdgeAI-trust will also establish sustainable impact by building open edge AI platforms and ecosystems, with a focus on standardization, supply chain integrity, environmental impact, and benchmarking frameworks, and support for open-source solutions.

EdgeAI-trust will focus on three domains: Mobility, Industrial, and Agriculture. By embracing the opportunity to specialize in Edge AI,Europe can maintain its position in the global context, especially as it aligns with decentralized and privacy-driven European policy. Furthermore, as AI is closely connected with the Green Deal, this project can provide proper solutions for environmental issues,making it an ideal area for investment in future developments. Ultimately, the project will enable AI to be connected with otherstrong sectors and industries, improving the innovation process and decision-making in Europe.
