The 2011 the 5th Iberian Grid Infrastructure Conference was co-organized by the Advanced Computing and e-science Department at the Institute of Physics of Cantabria (CSIC-UC),  the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the RES. Besides providing information on RES and PRACE to all the attendees in a general session, organised a training session aimed at users of supercomputing services to solve problems related with the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) theory of quarks and gluons, a lattice gauge theory formulated on a grid (or lattice) of points in space and time.
