It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. Context And Mission

The aim of the HEROES project is developing an innovative european software solution allowing industrial and scientific user communities to submit easily complex Simulation and ML workflows to HPC Data Centres and Cloud Infrastructures as well as being able to take informed decisions for selecting the best platform to achieve their goals in time, within budget and with the best energy efficiency. As part of this project, the EAR software will be extended to monitor and optimise workflows’ energy consumption and gather data needed to do predictions.

Key Duties

  • • EAR components analysis involved in the project
  • • Energy models and new developments for workflow monitoring and optimization
  • • Creation of documentation materials (work, ppoint) requested by the project
  • Participation in projects meetings

Requirements

  • Education
    • ○ Bachelor degree or MSc in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • ● C programming
    • ● UNIX/Linux environment systems
    • ● Basic knowledge about HPC applications and execution environments
    • ● System software programming (tools and system calls)
    • ● Data analysis and algorithms for energy model and analysis
  • Competences
    • ○ Candidates must be proactive, self-motivated individuals who can understand technical concepts
    • ○ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • ○ Ability to take initiatives, prioritize the tasks and work under set deadlines
    • ○ Ability to work both independently and within a team

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
  • We offer a full-time contract, a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, tickets restaurant, private health insurance, fully support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Temporary - 1 year (extensible to 2 years) renewable
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona

    In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.

    The panel will make a final decision and all candidates who had contacts with them will receive a feedback with details on the acceptance of rejection of their profile.
