Biography

Bernat Jiménez joined the Climate Variability and Change Group at BSC on December 16th 2022. He is currently contributing to the Destination Earth project by implementing model diagnostic tools and evaluating high-resolution climate model output.

Bernat holds degrees in Physics and Meteorology from the University of Barcelona, and completed his PhD at ETH Zürich, where he also conducted a short Postdoc under the leadership of Prof. Daniela Domeisen in the atmospheric predictability group. During his PhD, he focused on the Influence of ENSO on North Atlantic and European winter climate. Additionally, he worked on the atmospheric dynamics of heatwaves in idealized model configurations during his postdoc. Bernat also worked as an NWP-specialist at Meteomatics AG in Switzerland for the last year and a half. During this time, he extensively worked with global and regional atmospheric models and applied sophisticated diagnostics to better understand the relevant processes driving various atmospheric phenomena.
