Biography

I am a Senior Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Architecture (2009) and a BSc/MSc degree in Computer Engineering (2004), both from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). I currently lead the System Tools and Advanced Runtimes (STAR) group that focuses on research crossing multiple layers of the system software stack, from OS, runtimes, and low-level APIs to programming models, tools, and applications. My main research interest is programming models, runtime systems, and system software to support increasingly complex workloads such as converged HPC, AI, and Data Analytics on massively parallel and heterogeneous HPC and Cloud platforms. I have been the BSC principal investigator for the DEEP, DEEP-ER, DEEP-EST, and INTERTWinE projects, leading the work packages on runtime systems, resiliency, programming models, and runtime interoperability, respectively. I have also participated in many other European and industrial projects, including Mont-Blanc 1, 2 & 3, PRACE SHAPE, LoSync PRACE 6IP, REPSOLVER II, and LG SoW. I am currently involved in the European Pilot, DEEP-SEA, MEEP, ExaFOAM, and HUAWEI SoW1 projects. My list of publications is available at the DBLP website.
