Mobility Programs

stroke

Barcelona Supercomputing Center has always backed mobility programs because of the importance for the progress of scientific research.
The objective of these programs is to provide access to advanced computing infrastructures to worldwide researchers in order to:

  • Promote collaborative research involving scientists from different countries.
  • Provide training to scientists in terms of high performance computing in order to solve scientific and technological problems.

With these programs, researchers have the opportunity to be hosted by a short period of time by BSC-CNS as well as using BSC-CNS’s resources. Furthermore, they will be provided with financial support to cover all expenses during the stay including accommodation and travel costs.
At the moment BSC-CNS participates in the European project HPC-Europa and the Spanish aids to ICTS' (Singular Scientific and Technological Infrastructures) that provide access to European and Spanish scientists respectively to supercomputing resources. The participation in both projects has great scientific value because it allows the coordination of European and Spanish scientists in order to work together in Barcelona, taking advantage of possible synergies.

HPC-Europa2

HPC-Europa logoHPC-Europa is a consortium of seven leading High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures and five centres of excellence. This consortium aims to provide advanced computational services in an integrated manner to the European research community working at the frontiers of science. The HPC-Europa partners provide access both to a broad spectrum of HPC systems and to a wide variety of suitable computational environments, allowing European researchers to remain competitive with teams elsewhere in the world. Moreover, the culture of co-operation fostered by the consortium's Joint Research and Networking activities generates critical mass for computational science.

Apply here for a collaborative visit to BSC-CNS as an associated supercomputing and research center to this program. Proposals may be submitted at any time. The selection panel meets four times every year. The next deadline for applications is 15th September 2010.

ICTS

MEC logoThe Ministry of Education and Science funds stays at BSC-CNS’s facilities with the objective to take advantage of experience of the knowledge in supercomputing and eScience from BSC-CNS through its ICTS aids program. The next deadline for applications is 15th Julio 2010.
