Video capacity factor
Do you want to know how climate predictions can be useful for the renewable energy sector?
Verónica Torralba from the Climate Services group at BSC is doing her Ph.D. in the framework of the RESILIENCE project. She explains her role in the project, which contributes to the ESS Climate Services Initiative for wind energy, translating climate prediction science and technology into usable information for the energy sector. She mentions that wind predictions should fulfill particular requirements to be applied by users and highlights the importance of indices such as the capacity factor. This index indicates the extent of use of a particular wind farm in terms of the maximum amount of power that can be produced, being therefore of interest for users from the whole wind energy chain.
